We Marched for Justice to Stone Mountain

NAACP Dekalb County Branch of Georgia partnered with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mu Nu Lambda Chapter and the NAACP Youth and College Division to organize a protest march to the infamous Stone Mountain in Georgia. This area is home to the largest monument to the confederates that sought to maintain slavery and continue to glorify the South and its racial terror.

The NAACP and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity was joined by other members of the divine 9 such as Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, and Sigma Gamma Rho, along with the ACLU, and other organizations across the county to protest injustice that the stone carvings represents. The NAACP is committed to working with the Devine 9 Fraternities and Sororities to bring about change.

The Confederate Memorial Carving, depicts three Confederate figures of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. Our fight continues for justice by fighting for better community policing and encouraging everyone to exercise their right to vote. You can help in the fight by joining NAACP Dekalb.
