DeKalb County has announced a program for DeKalb County Residents that will provide emergency assistance during COVID.
The General Assistance Program offered by Dekalb County DFCS for residents of Dekalb County, GA only. We do not service or have information related to any other counties.
Applications may be obtained by emailing GeneralAssist-R14@dhs.ga.gov to request application.
Applications may be returned via email to GeneralAssist-R14@dhs.ga.gov. Applications may be faxed to (770) 302-8741. Applications may be submitted in person at the Dekalb Resource Center at 949 N. Hairston Rd, Stone Mountain, GA 30083.
Clients may apply for rental/mortgage assistance and 1 utility if needed at the same time.
In addition to the completed application, clients must provide:
- Clear photo Id – must be state issued and current
- Proof of all household income – Wages (last two months), Child Support (actual payment ledgers), SSI Awards, Disability, Retirement or Pension, Unemployment Payments, VA Benefits
- For Rental/Mortgage Assistance – Late Notice or Dispossessory Warrant with contact information for leasing office or mortgage lender. We do NOT pay final balances or deposits.
- For Utility Assistance – Bill with Past Due Balance OR Disconnection Notice from service provider. We do NOT pay deposits for Utilities. We do NOT pay for services that are already disconnected. We MUST have the ID of the person whose name is on the bill.
