Coronavirus is definitely coming — here are some tips to help you prevent getting or becoming ill by the virus. Coronavirus appears to demonstrate a similar pathology as other respiratory viruses; such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and the endemic human strain (HCoV).
- The viruses listed above can remain infectious on glass, metal and plastic surfaces for up to ten days at a time and are weakened by temperatures reaching 30 or 40 degrees Celsius (roughly 86 degrees Fahrenheit and 104 degrees Fahrenheit, respectively).
- Protect yourself: Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough.
- Travel restrictions: Do not travel to mainland China, South Korea, Italy, Iran or Japan.
- Stock up on a two-week supply of food, water, and over-the-counter medications.
As of February 28, 2020…the Coronavirus is listed as a Pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
