Annual Health Expo Set for August 3

The NAACP DeKalb County Branch and Commissioner Larry Johnson invite the DeKalb County Community to join us on August 3, 2019, at the Galleria at South DeKalb Mall for our ANNUAL HEALTH EXPO.

Cherry Willis, Health Committee Chairperson

This expo provides the community with free health checks and education.  Cherry Willis, Health Committee Chairperson with the NAACP Dekalb County Branch said, “This free event is important for our community because it allows families to work with health professionals to detect problems early and plan for a healthy life.  The health professionals at this event have been able to find illnesses early in some families and even prevented the diseases from getting worse.”

A nutritionist will be on hand to help guide families through food selection and preparation.  “This helps a family because a lot of the foods we are eating are causing us to have high blood pressure, diabetes, and strokes.  These are some of the leading causes of early death in our community,” Willis said.

The Health department is providing dental check for the children and signing the back to school forms.  Children will also be referred to a health agency for treatment if necessary.

Services for Adults and children when applicable:

  • HIV and Hep-C Testing.
  • Blood Pressure Screening and education
  • Glucose Screening
  • Cardiovascular and Heart Disease
  • Mental Health
  • Disaster and Fire Prevention Information provided by American Red Cross Trainer.
