Welcome to the NAACP DeKalb’s Rental Assistance Program page. We are committed to helping DeKalb County residents prevent housing instability and eviction by providing financial support for overdue rent, first-month rent, or utilities.
Program Details
- Eligibility: Applicants must reside in DeKalb County, demonstrate financial need, and meet specific income and housing criteria.
- Available Assistance: Up to $2,000 per household for overdue rent, first-month rent, or help with utilities. (Applicants can apply for either rental assistance OR utility assistance NOT both.)
- Deadline: This program runs until funds are exhausted or December 31, 2025. Apply as soon as possible—no later than December 15, 2025. Incomplete applications won’t be considered.

Checklist of Required Documents for Your Application
To complete your application, you will need the following:
- Proof of DeKalb County residency(Current lease or rental agreement – REQUIRED)
- Proof of income (pay stubs, unemployment benefits letter, etc).
- Eviction notice, rent arrears statement (if applicable)
- Utility assistance applicants: Include the relevant bill or notice
- Landlord verification (see Landlord Verification form info below)
- Valid photo ID.
Application Review and Funding Process
Each application submitted to the ARP Funds Program undergoes a multi-step review process to ensure fairness and accuracy:
- Document Review Committee
This team conducts the initial evaluation of each application to confirm that all required forms and supporting documents are complete and properly submitted. If any information is missing or unclear, applicants will be contacted via email with instructions for corrections or additional documentation. - Program Review Committee
Once an application is complete, it is forwarded to the Program Review Committee. This group determines whether the request meets the program’s eligibility criteria for funding. Please note: submission of an application does not guarantee approval. - Funding Phase
Approved applications are sent to Branch Administration to process the necessary payment voucher.- Rental assistance payments are typically delivered in person to landlords or property managers.
- Utility assistance payments are usually processed online directly to the utility provider.
Due to the multi-layered nature of the review and funding process—and our responsibility to distribute limited resources equitably—we are unable to provide exact timelines for funding decisions or payment delivery.
