DeKalb Commissioners, can you hear us? NO DATA CENTERS IN DEKALB
The voices of the people were loud and clear on Thursday night as resident after resident gave a consistent message – NO DATA CENTERS IN DEKALB COUNTY.

Protestors paraded outside of the commissioner’s location one-hour before the meeting. Young and old members of the community wanted to have their voices heard. It was an overflow crow in the chambers of the commissioners meeting. Residents are concerned for their health, safety and the fight for resources if data centers are allowed in DeKalb County. Edwina Clanton, President of NAACP DeKalb County, said “We want these facilities kept away from our residential neighborhoods. Just Say NO to data centers.”
There was a long line of speakers that did not get their voice heard because of the ground rules that were set up at the meeting. The overflowing crowd protested and said, LET THEM SPEAK. LET THEM SPEAK, but that did not happen. Some residents were escorted from the room.
Gina Mangham was the first to speak against these data centers during that portion of the meeting. She said, “I am disappointed in our representatives. Many of our great leaders died to preserve our right to be heard. What did they die for? Just to be sold out by our leaders. This is a moral issue. You need to prohibit these things (data centers) from coming into our community.”
“People over Profits” was echoed several times during the feedback to the commissioners. The question to the DeKalb County Commissioners is, do you hear the residents of DeKalb or will they be drowned out by the noise pollution of data centers?
